Knowing where you want to put your tattoo is an important step in the process and might just take as much time to figure out as it does to choose the right tattoo design itself. Either make up your mind where you’re going to place your tat or be sure to keep it inĀ mind before hitting the tattoo shop or shopping for designs. After all, what’s the point of picking out an incredibly tribal arm-band type of design if you decide you want to tattoo across your entire chest, right?
Anyway, there are numerous considerations that bounce around in the minds of most people who are looking to place a tattoo. A couple of considerations that head the list are:
While it may look really nice to have a Mike Tyson type tattoo on your cheek, the fact of the matter is that it isn’t going to look very professional at the office. If you’re living in the real world, then it might not be a good idea to get a tattoo someplace that is too obvious. Instead, put your tattoo somewhere that won’t be noticed, such as your shoulders, back, chest, and…. anywhere else that can be covered with clothing if the need arises.
2. Pain Factor
As you probably well know, different places can hurt in different amounts, and the pain factor often does play a big role in deciding just where you’re going to put your new tattoo. For women, it is said that the least painful areas are the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, and shoulders, whereas for men the rumor is the least painful application areas are in the buttocks, arms, and back areas.
After you’ve considered these two factors, you should take a step back and decide on your options. Ask yourself what area you’d prefer, and what area you feel would fit your newfound criteria too. Then, once you’ve decided, go on ahead and pick a tattoo!
