Banking On Guarantees From Tattoo Studios

They say there are few guarantees in life. But what happens when you get a tattoo that turns out to be crummy and not at all the way you wanted it to be?

Tattoos are permanent and that means that you’re stuck with a crummy job for life! We cover how to choose a tattoo artist and a tattoo parlor in other posts, so check the links for those features. But in the meantime, what happens when you get a bad tattoo job?

Are you supposed to demand a refund? What good would that do?

What about trying to salvage it somehow, someway? Or are you simply doomed to just have to live with it?

Well, first of all, each tattoo studio has their own policy. So be sure to read that little contract they make you sign so that you know your rights if you don’t like the job they do.

Some tattoo studios have been known to guarantee their work, and these studios are, needless to say, among the most reputable in the business! However, the guarantees themselves do tend to differ at times, so you’ll want to make certain that you fully understand what their guarantee policy is before you actually go under the needle.

Normally, the type of guarantee that is most commonly offered is that the tattoo studio will fix any tattoo that you’re unsatisfied with … for free. That means that if you find that your tattoo does not live up to your expectations, you’ll be able to get it done up without having to shell out an extra cent. This is why it’s so important to work with someone who has lots of recommendations so that you don’t get stuck in “interpretation” of what you expected and what they expected would be best.

Some other tattoo studios offer a variety of refund-guarantee, whereby if you aren’t satisfied with your tattoo your money will be refunded in full. Or they’ll refund your money and still fix the design (if they, hopefully, can!)

Which type of guarantee is better? Well, that’s largely a matter of preference. On one hand, just offering a refund means that you’re still stuck with a tattoo that you’re not satisfied with. But, on the other hand, would you really want your tattoo fixed by the same studio that gave you the disappointing tattoo to begin with?

All things said and done though, having a guarantee is at least going to help ensure that you’re not ‘losing’ everything if you don’t like your tattoo. More importantly, know the terms of the contract before signing.
